Reverend Emmitt C. Barrow A service of celebration honoring the life of the Reverend Emmitt C. Barrow of Longview will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 1 at Greggton United Methodist Church, followed by interment at Lakeview Read Obituary
I moved away from Longview in 2006 where I was a member of GUMC. I attended classes taught by Emmitt and assisted him in delivering pies to visitors several times. Words can not express the loss I am feeling. This was by far the greatest man I ever met. No more caring person ever lived than Emmitt. He was a father, a brother, a friend and a mentor. His love for Christ and his church showed in every way everyday of his life. His love for his family

Ray and I joined the United Methodist Temple when Emmitt was pastor there. He was a kind and compassionate pastor and led the church through its move from downtown to a more regional location on Hwy. 73. We loved him dearly and appreciated his ministry. Our son Marty was the third child baptized in the new church building.

Rev. Barrow was one of the most special/influential people in my life. He was pastoring the United Methodist Temple when he baptized me. I wish I could have been at the funeral but was not aware of it until today. Rev.Barrow made a special trip to bury my father-in-law and I'll never forget his kindness. Earth has lost a very good man but Heaven has gained a great evangalist. We only knew this man for 21 yrs. but he had a great impact on our lives and family. He will be greatly missed.
