Ret. Lt. Col. Gary Gilliam Fulghum, Jr.'s Obituary
Funeral services for Ret. Lt. Col. Gary Gilliam Fulghum, Jr, 72, of Longview, will be 2 PM Saturday in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, Longview, with Reverend David Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM Friday.
Lt. Col. Fulghum died Tuesday at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas.
A native of Middlesex, NC, he was born April 27, 1931. He was a USAF fighter pilot, retiring in 1979, and had received the Purple Heart while serving in Viet Nam from 1969 to 1970. After retirement he received his real estate brokers? license.
He was fondly known as ?Poppy? to his four precious grandchildren, who he always encouraged in their academic, athletic and extracurricular activities.
Survivors include his wife: Doris of Longview; Daughter: Deb Robey and husband Sam of Longview; Son: Gary Fulghum, III and wife Tonja of Friendswood; Grandchildren: Amy and Nicholas Fulghum of Friendswood and Hannah and Sammy Robey of Longview; Sisters: Frances Musser of Florida, Tillie Daeke of NC, and Connie Atkinson of NC. A number of nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
The family request donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
