Funeral services for Rebecca Sanchez, 57, of Longview will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 12:00 p.m., St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Longview, Texas. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home, Longview on Judson Road. Rosary will take place at 6:00 p.m.
Rebecca was born on April 14, 1960, in Germany. She was the daughter of the late Billy Howard Hood and Ann Miller. She married Joel Sanchez in Longview, Texas, on March 14, 1985. To this union a beautiful and beloved daughter, Natalie Hailene Sanchez, was born. Natalie was the light of her mother’s life, her “sunshine” as she liked to call her. Rebecca loved more than anything time spent with her family.
Rebecca really enjoyed working with children and volunteered through her church and Shriner’s Hospital for many years. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved nature and tending her elaborate flower gardens. She spent many hours making her house a home that her family was proud of. She enjoyed photography, collecting antiques, reading, and singing to Beatles tunes, old time rock ‘n roll, Journey, and many other kinds of music. She was a caregiver at heart and found a great deal of joy from helping others in need. She was thankful for every day that she was given. She battled cancer for over ten years with admirable grace and dignity, never complaining and always leaning on her faith. She had a smile that would light up any room.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Joel Sanchez, and daughter, Natalie Sanchez, of Longview. She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Miller, and father, Billy Hood, as well as her brother, Howard Hood.
Joel would like to express his heartfelt thanks to his work family at Longview Regional Medical Center who have provided so much love, support, and prayer over this long and difficult journey. The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
