Raymond Prince's Obituary
Raymond Dale Prince died Monday, April 23, 2018 after a battle with a lengthy illness.
Allegiant to East Texas, Raymond was born January 30, 1958 in Longview to Don Prince and Shirley White and attended Spring Hill school his entire life, where he would raise his children. He exceled in high school sports, including basketball, baseball, football and tennis.
Raymond played catcher at Louisiana Tech, McNeese State and Stephen F. Austin State University baseball teams. He married the love of his life, Geri Lynn Croker in June 1979. He earned his BS degree in Education in 1983 and chose to return to Spring Hill to teach. He taught science and coached basketball, football, and tennis for 17 years gaining notoriety as a gifted tennis coach. He greatly enjoyed helping players succeed and teaching them to build character and overcome adversity.
Raymond was blessed with four beautiful children, whom he loved dearly and put above all else, including himself. He shared his love of sports with his children, always there to cheer them on (and coach) in every single game. He and Geri took in and raised his nephew Alex the past ten years. He achieved his goal to have memorable annual family vacations.
Raymond was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Longview wards, serving in various leadership positions. He and Geri were sealed for time and all eternity in the Dallas, Texas temple December 28, 1984.
Raymond had a strong work ethic and made great impact as an educator/coach, builder, and businessman. He had a zest for life and an unparalleled positive outlook. He loved jokes, funny stories, and pranks.
Raymond is survived by his sweet, devoted wife of 39 years, Geri and nephew Alex Green. His daughter Valerie and husband John Pitcavage live near Boston, MA with 3 daughters: Sage, Sydney and Brooke. His daughter Stephanie lives with husband Kade Hendricks in Logan, Utah and their 4 children: Mason, Hannah, Zoe and Canon. Son Steven and wife Anna-Kathryn reside in Longview with daughter Palmer and son Sadler. Daughter Melanie and husband Cory Dickerson also live in Longview. Raymond is survived by siblings Donna Day of Georgia, Larry of Longview, Roger of Austin, and preceded by siblings Janet and John.
Visitation will take place at Rader Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 24th 6-8 pm. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, April 25th at 10:00 am at the LDS Church, 1700 Blueridge Pkwy in Longview.
Friend to all, forever fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Spring Hill Panthers, happiest with his children and grandchildren, the epitome of selflessness and humor.
