Private family graveside services for Raymond L. Thomas, 81, of Longview will be held in the Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. He passed away Saturday, August 11, 2007 in a Longview hospital.
Mr. Thomas was born July 1, 1926 in Charlottesville, VA to George and Ollie Thomas. A former longtime resident of Virginia, he was a graduate of Schuyler High School in Schuyler, VA. He was a carpenter and was retired from Arlandria Construction Co. in Alexandria, VA where he was a supervisor. Mr. Thomas was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Fairfax, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother George Thomas and sister, Mary Graves.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris Thomas of Longview; daughters, Joan Connelly of Falls Church, VA and Carolyn Merrill and husband Dendy of Longview; grandchildren, Tom Connelly, Lauren Merrill and Ryan Merrill; sister, Ruby Allen of Waynesboro, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
