Gilbert Smith
My sincerest sympathy to Raymond’s family and friends. I met Raymond many years ago, over 20 to be exact, by way of correspondence, phone calls, and video letters. I met him through our mutual interest in video recordings, and in particular our support of the Betamax video format. Raymond and I established a friendship where we would exchange video letters, and he was very gracious in providing me with copies of some historical television programs which he had in his videotape collection that he had recorded many years earlier. It wasn’t until about 15 years later, that I met Raymond in person, and very much enjoyed speaking with him and recalling many good things from the past. I was able to express to him my gratitude for his generosity in providing me with the video recordings he had made, that were not available anywhere else. He was one of the kindest and most generous individuals that I’ve had the privilege of knowing. I’m sorry I did not get to see him again, but now he is at peace and we remember him with great love and affection. Eternal rest grant onto him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shining upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of Christ, rest in peace.
