Raymond Francis Hoefer's Obituary
Longview- Raymond Francis Hoefer, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 2, 2017.
He was born October 11, 1927 in Albion, NE to Raymond and Anna Hoefer. He attended Albion schools and graduated from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO with a degree in Accounting. He married Clare Brungardt on December 28, 1959. Ray worked for Schiltz/Stroh’s Brewery as an accountant for 35 yrs. Ray was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Longview, TX.
He is survived by his 3 daughters, Mary Guilliams (husband David), Stephanie Webb (husband Ken), And Lisa Nealon (husband Chris); 3 sons, Chris Hoefer (wife Cari), Kevin Hoefer (wife Danetta), and Robert Hoefer (wife Cindy); 2 sisters, Mary Johnston of Chicago, IL, and Jean Woederhoff of Hastings, NE, his grandchildren, Katie Mohammed, Megan Gore, Tony Gore, Matthew Webb, Stephen Webb, Christina Hoefer, Caitlin Guilliams, Joseph Guilliams, and special great-grandchild Taylor, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his wife Clare, parents, Raymond and Anna Hoefer, several brothers and sisters and great-grandchild Michaelyn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on May 8, 2017 at 12pm. A Rosary will be said 30 minutes before Mass. Visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home from 5-8pm on Sunday, May 7, 2017.
Ray was a longtime supporter of Catholic education; the family suggests memorial contribution to St. Mary’s Catholic School Library Fund in lieu of flowers.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Cardiovascular Intermediate Care and ICU at Good Shepherd Medical Center for caring for Dad.
We will greatly miss his dry wit, his laugh and his presence in our lives. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who worked hard to provide for his family but still had time to spend with us. Rest in peace, dad… we love you.
