Ray Ladell Young's Obituary
Ray Ladell Young was born on September 16, 1937 to Jack and Ludie Young in Gilmer, TX. Ray Ladell passed away on June 21, 2017 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, TX. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and special friend to many others.
Ray Ladell graduated from Harmony High School, Gilmer, TX in 1955, attended Tyler Business School and graduated from Kilgore College with an associate’s degree in Mid-Management. He had a long 35-year career with Eastman Kodak Company, serving as an operator and shift supervisor. He served in the US Army from 1956-1959 and married his wife, Francis Hagler on December 25, 1956. Ray Ladell and Francis celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage this past Christmas. They enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, keeping their yard in immaculate condition, and he looked forward to playing golf with buddies each Tuesday. They also loved watching their talented grandchildren participate in many activities over the years and were members of Alpine Church of Christ for fifty plus years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Melba Hammer, and in-laws, Buford and Ophelia Hagler. He is survived by his wife, Francis, his two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Ernest Brown of Hot Springs, AR and Pattie and Kenny Frazier of Keller, TX. Also, four wonderful grandchildren: two grandsons, Kyle Myers and wife Mica, Lance Myers and wife, Whitney and two granddaughters, Morgan Greenwade and husband Jackson and Shelby Frazier. Also survived by three brothers-in-law, Ellis Hagler, Donald Hagler and wife, Natalie and Lindley Hagler and wife, Wanda and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 24th at 4:00pm at Alpine Church of Christ. Speakers will be David Cotham, Kenny Frazier, Kyle and Lance Myers. Interment will be at Rosewood Park immediately following services. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Alpine Church of Christ Children’s Ministry.
