When Randy S. Terry first died I remember sitting there thinking, 'Does this mean I have to be a widow?!'. Our society had put such a stigma on the word, that any chance in me feeling the essential to encirclement it was pretty slimâ?¦ I even had individuals telling me not to call myself that ugly wordâ?¦ "Widow" was a title that had the whole lot going against it in the sense of embracing itâ?¦ But I recollect, one evening, in the first few months after Randy death, thinking of the satisfaction I had when standing next to him and hearing Randy introduce me as his loving wifeâ?¦ I felt inexorableâ?¦ I felt that the world was mine to triumph overâ?¦ I felt that with Randy by my side and the title of his wife... that all in the world was preciseâ?¦ It was in thinking of that feeling that I knew I had all rationale in the world to feel the equivalent as his widowâ?¦ That title represents his sacrificeâ?¦ That title represents his family sacrificeâ?¦ And that title, due to the fact that I am still here to say I am the widow of Randy... represents my continued existenceâ?¦ I know it is easier say than to embrace a word that for centuries has been shunned and put in a unenthusiastic light, but when I think of that glowing feeling in my heart when I stood next to Randy as his wife, I quickly let the ideas of others fall to the wayside as the same feeling sweeps over me as I introduce myself as Randy widowâ?¦ You earned this title with every ounce of love you contribute to with themâ?¦ You earned this title with every day you decided to get up and inhale and exhale after their passingâ?¦ You earned this title for being an example for all those that will come after you and will be asking the same question on why they should welcome a word... and then they see how you have loved... My Grief has evolved these 20 months... I have grown stronger alone without you at my side cheering me on letting me know at the end of the day that everything wouldm be alright... I think I miss that the most!
Why do I still MISS and LOVE you? Why can't I just allow you to be part of mypast?
