Randy was my best friend through high school and earlier parts of our lives. He remained a true friend throughout his life. Randy was intelligent, competitive and a storyteller. One of his stories he told me frequently was about the big money he made on me as a boxer when we were in the Air Force together late 1950s. He said as my opponent and I would enter the ring, he would stand up, waving his money, saying "I'll take the white boy!" He was consistently overcome with many betting opportunities. After several fights and an eventual championship, he turned this process into plenty of spending money. I did not know he was betting on my fights until many years later when he shared this story.
Randy's health has been poor for several years, and would tell me it was from his "hard living." He would then promptly inform me that he would not change anything with the way he lived his life. He enjoyed his life immensely. I will miss him.##imported-begin##Jack Henry##imported-end##
