Ramona Gaye Mitchell Clark
Devoted wife, cherished mother, compassionate grandmother and friend, Ramona Gaye Mitchell Clark, 80, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in Longview, Texas. She was born on April 29, 1931 in the Concord Community in Cherokee County, Texas to Jessie Taylor and Mary ?Zelma? Searcy Mitchell.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Jackie Leroy Clark of Henderson; her two sons, Kent Clark of Longview and Mark Clark and wife, Angela of Tyler; She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Josh Clark, Jennifer Clark-Tamez and husband, Leon, Lee Robertson, Hunter Clark and Savannah Clark and 2 great grandchildren, Jillian Silkwood and Mia Tamez; and many other family members and friends.
Ramona graduated from New London High School in 1948 and later attended North Texas State University. She married Jackie on August 26, 1950 and resided in Midland, Texas. In 1961, they relocated to East Texas and have since resided in the Henderson area. She retired in 1993 after a long career as a civil service auditor. Ramona had a special love for flower gardening and bird watching and a passion for the Civic Theater. She also was an avid hospice volunteer for 14 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and of the church choir for many years, and most importantly she was passionate about her faith in Christ her Saviour.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Henderson with The Rev. Candice Klein officiating under direction of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery in Troup.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 PM on Friday evening.
