Polly B. Moren's Obituary
In the early morning of June 3, 2018 Polly passed away at Hawkins Creek Assisted Living in Longview, she was 85 years old. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2018 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Pastor Bryan W. Maertins officiating.
Polly was born in Fort Worth, Texas as the third child of Pauline Mathis and Charles Lawrence Buchanan.
Her family moved from Fort Worth to California previous to WWII and then to Keller, Texas at the end of the war where she graduated from Keller High School in 1950. In 1951 she married Frank R. Moren Jr. and celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary prior to his death in 2016.
After graduation she began her employment with the Corps of Engineers and held other positions with Texas Instruments, and North American Van Lines throughout her years in the workforce. She was well known for her catering skills at her husband’s company events through the years also. She was a member of The Eastern Star. Her lively and witty personality came in handy while volunteering with the Republican Party in Marion, Harrison and Gregg Counties over several years in her life. She would try anything once and excelled in sewing, cooking, painting, flower arranging and interior decorating to name just a few of her many talents. Polly was fortunate to have traveled to many places in retirement with her husband of which inspired her paintings and poetry writing.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents Pauline and Lawrence Buchanan, her husband Frank, her brothers Charles Buchanan, Larry Buchanan and John Buchanan, her sister in law Patsy Buchanan,
her brothers-in law Jerry McCormick and Jerry L. Moren, her niece India Buchanan and her nephews Mark Buchanan and Brad McCormick.
Polly is survived by her sons, Terry (Lynn) Moren of Longview and Tim (Lisa) Moren of Avinger; her grandchildren Andrea Moren of Longview, Sam Moren of Avinger and Trevor Moren of Washington, D.C.; her sisters in law, Pat Ann Buchanan of Clifton, Martha Ann McCormick and Maxine Moren of Keller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
As Polly was an avid animal lover, the family requests donations be made to their local humane society or favorite charity of their choice in lieu of flowers.
The family would like to recognize the outstanding staff of Hawkins Creek Assisted Living and Compass Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of Polly. You each held a special place in her heart.
