Poleda Carolyn Glanton's Obituary
Poleda Glanton was born in HopeArkansas in 1947to Fred and Belva June Glanton. She attended school with Bill Clinton and was an accomplished pianist in high school. She also helped on the family farmrode her horses in rodeosand began to learn tennis. After high schoolPoleda attended Hendrix College earning a bachelor's degree in religious studies. She attended Southwest Arkansas State University where she won the state tennis championship.
Poleda loved tennis. She coached tennis at several East Texas high schools and came to Longview in 1978. She also taught private lessonsorganized and ran tournamentsand hosted National Junior Tennis League clinics for children of all ages and abilities in the summers. Many days she would work from daylight to late at night but she loved every minute. She was also Assistant Athletic Director at Longview and was responsible for starting the women's sports program to implement Title IX.
Later in her lifeshe learned to play golf and ski.
She is preceded in death by her father Fred Glanton and Aunt Arlene Willis. She is survived by her mother Belva June Glantonaunts Sue Burke Roe and Ann Woodwarduncles Ralph BurkeJohnny BurkeJames Hoyt Burkeand many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her special friends Charyl Palsha and Mariann Baker.

Visitation will be at Rader Funeral Home from 3 to 5 PM. On FridayNovember 25. Services will be at the First Methodist Church in Hope with burial in Hope.
