Phyllis Carol Haase's Obituary
Phyllis Carol Haase, 77, of Longview passed away on Oct. 08, 2016, due to complications from a recent illness. Phyllis was born on Aug. 15, 1939, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Alma-Ruth and Sam Black. Phyllis, along with her husband, Roy, owned and operated the Whataburger restaurants in Longview, Marshall, Hallsville, White Oak and Gilmer. Phyllis had many passions, but first and foremost was sharing with whomever she could “the Grace of God” and was always looking for someone in need of a spiritual boost. Realizing that her restaurants often had guests that were feeling down, she decided to play contemporary Christian music in her restaurants in hopes that “hearing a positive message might just help someone who was having a bad day.”
Phyllis was also an avid decorator, designing all of the themes in the restaurants they owned as well as the newly completed office building on Judson road. When she wasn’t helping someone decorate their home or office she loved to paint with oils, dabble in photography and work outside in the gardens landscaping.
Mrs. Haase was preceded in death by her Husband Roy E. Haase and their only child Mike Haase. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Kay and RC Dunnam, of Tyler, TX, nephews Larry Lott of Dallas TX and David Lott of Tyler TX, nieces Rebecca Quintero of Orlando FL, Samantha Haase of St. Louis MO. and Lynda and Jody Fish of Plano TX. along with their two daughters Callie and Sarah Fish,
The family wishes to extend gratitude to Pathway Church of Longview and Rader Funeral Home.
