Phyllis J. Davis' Obituary
Phyllis Davis, 76 of Longview passed on November 24,2023. Phyllis was born on August 01,1947, in Dallas, Texas to Tommy Lou and Edgar Fallis. After her father’s death her mother married M. O. Baxter and he later adopted Phyllis. Phyllis was very active in her youth group and drill team at Greenville High School. On May 29, 1965, the day after graduation, she married the love of her life, John “Tommy” Davis. Phyllis worked for the phone company and an array of local doctors till her husband got sick. Phyllis loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandkids. Her biggest passion was writing poetry and short stories. If there was a tablet near her you were almost guaranteed to find a poem she had jotted down.
Phyllis is survived by her two daughters and son-in-laws, Lisa and Rick Stewart, Tina and Kevin Gilliland, grandchildren, Chad and Amanda Tarkington, Nikalos and Cristina Tarkington, Mikala and Kaleb Day, Dakota Hickman, John Hickman, Samuel Bass-Gilliland, Mitch and Meaghen Stewart, and 8 great grandchildren.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Davis, her parents Edgar Fallis, Tommie Baxter, M. O. Baxter, her sister Starla Bass, and brother Joe Baxter.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rodney Henry and Rama Nayini for the special care they have provided to Phyllis over the years. Thank you to Enhabit home health and Highland Pines for the care over the past few months.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 01, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Mausoleum Chapel of Rosewood Park. Visitation will be Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Rader Funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Texas Alzheimer’s Alliance or American Cancer Society.
