Phillip Farris Jones
Phillip Farris Jones, 76, of Longview, passed away June 1, 2015 in Longview. Phil was born November 8, 1938, in Patmos, AR to Marie and Blant Jones. For nineteen years as an Athletics Director, Phil enjoyed coaching football. He took great pleasure in selling sporting goods for thirty-five years for East Texas Sports Center. Phil felt honored to be inducted into the East Texas Coaches Association 2015 Hall of Honor for Distinguished Service.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Steffani Jones of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Mark Berman of Greenville, SC; grandson, Matthew Berman; granddaughter, Alexandra Jones; nephews Kevin Jones of Rockwall and Kyle Jones of Alba; aunt, Nancy Mayton of Little Rock, AR; great nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins and dear friends.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Kenneth Jones.
Visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home, Longview on Wednesday, June 3, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Phil’s Life will be held Thursday, June 4, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with the Reverend Kevin Wittmayer of Trinity Episcopal Church officiating. A Graveside Service will be held in Memory Gardens, Hope, AR at 3:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Brad McGinnis, Mark Reynolds, Paul Reynolds, Barry Rivers, Tommy Waggoner, and Bill wood.
Honorary Pallbearers are all former employees of East Texas Sports Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The East Texas Coaches Association, to the attention of Barry Norton, President, 4001 Summerhill Rd., Texarkana, TX 75503.
