Philip R. Reeves' Obituary
Philip R. Reeves, age 79, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away after a lengthy illness and sudden complications with his family at his beside.`
Memorial services will be held 10 AM Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Longivew Texas with burial to be at Evergreen Cemetary in Paris, Texas following the memorial service.
Philip was born April 8, 1931 in Ada, Oklahoma to Ott and Leona Reeves. Phillip graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Texas. He graduated from East Texas State University Commerce, Texas with a BBA degree in Business. He was a Scottish Rite Mason.
Philip married Virgina R. White, his beloved life partner and best friend of 60 years in 1953 after 3 years of courtship in Paris, Texas He served in the United States Air Force for two and a half years. After his discharge from the service in 1956, he worked for Texaco for six years, then worked for CIT Finance as a Finance Sales Manager.
Philip and Virginia made their home in Ft. Worth, Texas from 1957 till 1990, then moved to Longview, Texas. Here they they spent the majority of their retirement years serving their church in many various ministries and services, the greater Longview community and various organizations AARP, Citizens on Patrol, Longivew New Comers, Meals on Wheels, Greater Order of the Elks that helped others less fortunate.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents Ott and Leona, brothers Bill and Ott Jr, his best friend and uncle Jack Richards and many other family and friends of his generation.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife Virginia Reeves, sons, Phil Reeves Jr. and wife Missy of Caldwell, Texas, Randy Reeves and wife Connie, of Marshall, Texas. Grandchildren; Amanda Reeves of Monroe, NC, Joceyln Reeves of Colorado Springs, CO. Jessica Reeves of Burbank, CA. Steven Reeves of Midland, TX. Robin Reeves of Marshall, TX. and Michelle Flores of Denver, CO. Brother David Reeves and wife Barbara of New Braunfels, TX. Sister Sammy Galbraith of Denham Springs, LA, Sister in law Martha Reeves of New Bruanfels, TX as well as many extended family members and friends.
Philip was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that your donations be made to Trinity Episcopal Church of Longview or the Alzheimer's Association, 4144 North Central Expressway, Dallas, Texas 75204.
