Philip M Morrow

Philip McCoy Morrow, loving husband and father, ended his journey with us on January 25, 2012. Memorial services will be held at Greggton United Methodist Church, Longview Saturday, January 28, 2012 starting at 1:30pm. Born in Ashland, Kentucky, on January 2, 1930, he grew up in Middletown, Ohio. He went to Washington and Lee University, but early on transferred to Harding University, a fortunate move, because there he met the love of his life, Faye Hare, to whom he was devoted for more than 58 years in a rich, happy marriage. They were married upon graduation from Harding on June 11, 1953. He proudly served in the US Army with the 82nd Airborne from 1953 to 1955. Following his service, Phil started his 33-year career with Armco Steel Corporation in Middletown, Ohio, where he and Faye also started their family. They were later transferred to Washington Court House, Ohio, where they lived until their transfer to Longview in 1974. There Phil helped build the Armco Building Systems plant, where he was Human Resources Manager. After his early retirement in 1986, he decided to do something completely different, and began working as the delivery driver of the Ahle Kwik Kopy Company in Longview. He worked there for 21 enjoyable years. This job allowed him and Faye to travel the world, from Central and South America, to much of Europe. He loved college football and golf, and was a fantastic water-skier. At the age of 56, he took up snow skiing, and was hooked. He was an outstanding athlete. He had many friends and was adored by just as many, none more than by his loving family: his wife Faye Hare, of Longview; son Tim, of Paris, France; and daughter Cynthia Maillet, of Alpharetta, Georgia; son-in-law Gilles Maillet, of Alpharetta, Georgia; and his adoring grandsons Ben, Nicolas, and Remy, of Milford, Kansas; Athens, Georgia; and Alpharetta, Georgia, respectively. The many friends he leaves behind will always remember his kind spirit and wonderful, contagious laugh. In lieu of flowers the family requests any memorials be made to the Greggton United Methodist Church, or to Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House, or to the Alzheimer's Unforgettable Tuesday Day Club.
