Peggy "Honey" Gibson's Obituary
Peggy Elaine Gibson, lovingly known as “Honey” was born May 11, 1943 to Elton and Olgie Pittman in Mendenhall, MS. She was a treasured Grandmother, Mother, wife, Aunt, Sister and friend. Honey passed away August 14, 2016. She was 73 years old.
Honey graduated from Mendenhall High School in 1961. She met the love of her life, Lewis “Hoot” Gibson while in high school. They were married September 23, 1961 and were happily married for 33 years.
Peggy retired from the City of Longview Water Department. She also worked at JC Penny for many years.
Peggy will always be remembered for her larger than life personality. She was definitely the life of the party. She will also be remembered for her heart of gold. She would give the shirt off her back to help her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother James Larue Pittman, and her grandson Matthew Dalton Gibson.
Left to keep her memory alive are her two beloved sons, Marc Gibson married to Dianne Gibson of Bossier City, LA and Mike Gibson married to Heidi Gibson of Kilgore, Tx. Her most treasured grandchildren, Aaron, Olivia and Ella Gibson. Her sister Hattie Lou Smith of Mendenhall MS. Her nieces Margie Blake married to Bud Blake of Ada, OK and Patty Clark married to Wade Clark from Tulsa OK. Also, her great nephew, Cade Clark and great niece, Marlee Clark from Oklahoma.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 5-7pm at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, TX. A celebration of life will be Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 10 am at Rader Funeral Home.
