Pearl McDaniel Mancil's Obituary
Pearl McDaniel Mancil, 93, of Longview and Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on June 20, 2017. Pearl was born in Elizabeth, Louisiana, on July 26, 1923, to William McDaniel and Mattie Johnson McDaniel. She graduated from Glenmora High School in 1942.
In 1945, she married Robert Mancil, the love of her life.
Pearl’s greatest achievements included her acceptance of Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and a lifetime dedicated to His teachings; 69 years of a wonderful marriage to Robert; and her daughter, Sue Mancil Watkins.
She was a dedicated member of Valley View Baptist Church in Longview, Texas, for 67 years. She served as the church secretary for 23 of those years.
Prior to working at Valley View Baptist Church, she worked at the Southwestern Telephone Company and Telco Credit Union.
Pearl is preceded in death by her mother and father; and her brothers and sisters, Curtis McDaniel, Gladys McDaniel, Beatrice McDaniel Doyle, Mildred McDaniel Willis, Zady McDaniel Perkins, Lena McDaniel, Audie McDaniel Doyle, and Clay McDaniel. She is survived by her sisters Rose McDaniel Willis and Katherine McDaniel Torres; her daughter, Sue Mancil Watkins, and her husband, Steven J. Watkins; her grandchildren Angie Watkins Buck, and her husband Shane Buck, Kate Elizabeth Watkins, and Emily Anne Watkins; her great-grandchildren Garrett Steven Buck and Ava Chrisanne Buck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 23, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 24, at 2 p.m., at Valley View Baptist Church, followed by a burial service at Memory Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made in Pearl’s name to Valley View Baptist Church, 1602 Alpine Rd., Longview, Texas 75601.
