Payne M. "Bo" Bogardus
Funeral services for Payne M. "Bo" Bogardus, 79, of Gilmer, will be held at 2 PM Monday, November 17, 2008 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 PM Sunday, November 16, 2008 at the funeral home. Mr. Bogardus was born in Nebraska on March 2, 1929 to Grant and Eva Payne Bogardus. He passed away in a Longview nursing facility on November 13, 2008. Mr. Bogardus was raised in Long Pine, Nebraska and joined the armed forces where he was a MP for the United States Air Force. After being honorably discharged he served as a US Marshall Deputy before becoming a bounty hunter in Black Hills, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents & one grandson, Daniel "Jack" Rae. He is survived by his wife, Polly of Gilmer; and children, Gary "Eastman" Rae and wife Kathy of Longview, Kyle "Gator" Rae of Hallsville, Alex "Frog" Rae of Hallsville, Byron "Fish" Rawls and companion Jennifer of White Oak, Willie "Tweety" Rawls and wife Christy "Kandie Lou" of Gilmer, and Gladys "Smoke" Fleck and husband Randy of Missouri; 17 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous friends and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in honor of Mr. Bogardus to: VFW Post 4002, 401 Ambassador Row, Longview, Texas 75604.
