Paul Guisbert VanderLinden Jr.'s Obituary
Born in Dallas, Texas on October 24, 1929, Paul Guisbert VanderLinden, Jr. lived a full and blessed life until his death on the morning of February 1, 2016 at 86 years of age.
Paul told family and friends many heartfelt stories of his childhood in Dallas. He was very proud of being a Marine and remained loyal and true to the Marine Corps Honor Code to the end. His adult life was spent as an engineer in the field of satellite communications. He was a founder and Vice President of Vertex Communications, which has now become General Dynamics, and was widely recognized for his visionary guidance in the development of the industry. Throughout his career he traveled to 48 countries and islands. On his many trips, Paul’s constant focus was that of loving God. He always strove to share that love with people he met at home and abroad. He was a teacher and mentor, and lived a great example of his Christian faith.
Paul was preceded in death by his daughter Barbara Hinton Miller and his sister Beatrice Myers. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Betty, daughter Janet Waller and her husband Mike, son Paul VanderLinden III and his wife Nancy, daughter Nancy Aldredge, 11 grandchildren and their spouses, and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Lois Chapman, and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul always said he had numerous blessings, and they all had names.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday, February 5, 2016 at Alpine Church of Christ in Longview.
Interment will follow services at 3:30pm that day at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
Friends are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation at the church from 6pm-8pm Thursday, February 4, 2016.
There are no words to express the love and appreciation from those whom Paul touched in this world. He truly lived life from glory to glory. He lives on through all that he taught and the memory of the wonderful stories he told.
