Paul A. Yater's Obituary
Funeral services for Paul A. Yater, 80, of Longview, will be 12 Noon Wednesday, August 4, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, Longview, with Reverend Jonathan Jehorek and Dr. W. D. O?Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Longview. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM.
Mr. Yater went to be with his Lord Sunday, August 1, at his residence.
A native of Dallas, Texas, he was born October 16, 1929 and had lived in Longview since 1941. Paul retired from Texas Eastman as office manager and after retirement he worked for the Cargill Company. Paul?s greatest passion, other than his family, was the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 201 Longview, which he was a member from November 1941 and went from a Tenderfoot to Senior Scoutmaster with over 50 years of service to the Boy Scouts. During this time he earned the Eagle Rank and was awarded the coveted Silver Beaver. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Longview and served his country in the US Army during the Korean conflict.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bettye Yater, his daughter, Terrye Ellen Hudson and husband Michael of Longview and grandchildren, Paul, Matthew and Melissa Hudson.
