Patty Sue Sparkman Cannon
Services for Patty Sue Sparkman Cannon , 65, of Longview will be at 12:00 o?clock noon Wednesday at the Alpine Church of Christ, 610 E. Loop 281. Burial will follow at Rosewood Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. Jerry McCaghren and Frank DeLoach will officiate the service.
Sue passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2007 in Longview after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Cannon was born July 20, 1941 in Dubberly, Louisiana to James and Lalia Reagan Sparkman. She graduated from Dubberly High School in 1959. She moved to Kilgore, Texas to live with a favored aunt, Neva Reagan, and attended Kilgore College. While attending Kilgore College, she met and married the love of her life, Eddie Cannon.
While living in Kilgore, Sue worked at Kilgore Ceramics and Tidewater Oil Company. After moving to Longview, Sue was a preschool teacher at Oakland Heights Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Longview. Later, Sue was employed ata the Gregg County Courthouse and retired after 15 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Sue is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Eddie Cannon. She is also survived by her sons, Chris Cannon of Longview; John Cannon and wife Cheryl Williams Cannon of Longview; Ron Cannon and wife Ginger Elder Cannon of Longview; her brother, Ronnie Sparkman and wife Anne; brother, Tim Sparkman; sister, Paula Sparkman; and sister, Connie DeLoach and husband, Frank; brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Lindon and Peggy Cannon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Johnnie and Bobbie Hart. ?Honey? was survived by six beautiful grandchildren: Travis and Austin Smith, Cody Elder Cannon, Shelby Junell Cannon, Lindsey Lalia Cannon, and Lexie Suzette Cannon. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother ?Honey?, sister, and faithful friend. She always referred to her grandchildren as ?precious angels?, and now she will always be remembered as our precious angel. Her positive and courageous attitude will always be an inspiration to family and friends. Sue received hundreds of cards and phone calls throughout her illness which is a reflection of her ability to make everyone feel loved and special. She was always concerned about everyone else. She kept her wit even in the toughest situations.
Serving as pallbearers will be Weldon Frazier, Richard Gibson, Don Holley, Clint Humphreys, Richard Spencer, Mike Toon, Leroy Romines, Tommy Kirkindoll, and Rick Malloy.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. Tuesday evening 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their loving support in the form of prayers, cards, food, flowers and phone calls. A special thank you to the awesome nursing staff at Longview Regional Hospital for the diligent daily care and concern.
