Patsy Mills' Obituary
Gilmer – Born August 27, 1936, Patsy was a loving wife to Fred for 60 years. She was a very supportive, caring and encouraging mother to two daughters, a grandmother of nine and a great grandmother to seven with one on the way, although one day she proudly said “They are all great!”
Patsy and Fred’s favorite past time was going to auctions. She enjoyed collecting china dolls, Precious Moments and tea pots. Patsy followed the Spring Hill Panthers in the 70’s and early 80’s by attending pep rallies, football and basketball games. She was such a fan; she was in the stands only a few days following a surgery. A longtime member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, she kept several Pastor’s laughing. Anyone who knew Patsy is aware of her humorous, joking side. She owned a day care and showed God’s love to little ones. At Gladewater First Baptist Church, Patsy and Fred reached out with compassion and friendship to seniors by hospital or home visitation, sharing produce from their garden, and hosting dinners, even on Mother’s Day or Christmas.
Now with the Lord at the age of 80, Patsy is survived by her wonderful husband Fred Mills; daughters Caren Cummings with her spouse Kidron, now of Gilmer and Kelly Hutton whose husband is Tim, also of Gilmer. Grandchildren from Caren are Heather Rose who is married to Andy from Wichita Kansas; Justin Ross and his wife Magen of Jacksonville Florida; and Leah Prater who lives in Japan with her Navy husband Preston. Kelly’s children are all from Gilmer. They are Garrett Hutton who is married to Courtney; Galen Hutton and his wife Cassie; Mason Hutton and his spouse Kristy; Morgan Lindsey and her husband Glynn; Megan Hutton and Madison Hutton. These grandchildren grew up around their “Meme”. Caren’s children were raised in Kansas but loved their visits to see their grandparents in East Texas. Even though they are all great, Patsy had seven great grandchildren. Other special survivors are siblings, aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
The memorial services for Patsy Mills are scheduled for two o’clock Saturday, March the 25th at Rader Funeral Home’s Chapel, Longview. This Interment at Rosewood Park Cemetery and Mausoleum. Visitation 6-8pm Friday, March the 24th at Radar Funeral Home. The family says “Our loved one will be greatly missed but she is rejoicing in God’s presence”.
