Patrick J LeTort's Obituary
Patrick LeTort was born July 13, 1945, in Rennes, France, and passed away on October 20, 2023, at Longview Regional Hospital in Longview, Texas.
Patrick attended Culinary schools in France and achieved the designation of Certified Chef. In 1973 Patrick and his family moved to the U.S. and in 1975 he became the Executive Chef at the University Club in Jackson, Mississippi, an affiliate of the Club Corporation of America.
After many years in Jackson, he served with several other CCA affiliates: The Wine Cellar, Jacksonville, Florida; Oak Hills Country Club, San Antonio, Texas; Petroleum Club, Odessa, Texas; and Holly Tree Country Club, Tyler, Texas. Then in 1987, Patrick and his wife opened their own restaurant, “Le Bistro” in Tyler, Texas, where they had a devoted following of customers and friends.
In 1991, Patrick began a 30-year career with the Cherokee Club on Lake Cherokee in Longview, Texas. Under his leadership, the Cherokee Club more than doubled its membership, made significant renovations and upgrades to the buildings and facilities, and became one of the premier event venues in the area.
He loved visiting with the members and had a remarkable ability to call almost everyone by name. Patrick had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to hear stories and tell stories. He will also be remembered for his sense of style, his love for his big dogs, and his love of cars.
Through all his years, his wife Annick has been by his side -- she would serve as Hostess or Bartender or whatever needed to be done – and she was always the ‘Wind beneath his wings’ , especially during these past few months of his illness.
Patrick is pre-deceased by his parents, Andre and Yvonne LeTort, by three sisters, Catherine, Claude and Francoise, and by his daughter, Carole LeTort.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 55 years, Marie Annick Poyac LeTort, his daughter Nathalie Wise and her husband Jimmy Wise, three grandchildren, Myles Wise, Harrison Wise, and Lauren Wise McFadden and her husband Stephen McFadden and their son, Reid, age 7 months. He is also survived by his sister Martine Tricot, his brother Yves LeTort, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Private family funeral services are being coordinated by Rader Funeral Home, and there will be a visitation at Rader on Thursday, Oct. 26, from 5 to 7 pm.
In addition, there will be a Friends and Family celebration of Patrick’s life at the Cherokee Club on Friday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 7 pm.
