Patricia Simpkins' Obituary
Funeral services for Patricia Ruth Simpkins, 77, of Longview, will be held at 2 PM Friday, February 11, 2011, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Dr. Gregg Zackary officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview. Mrs. Simpkins passed away Monday evening in a local nursing home. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Pat was born on March 16, 1933 in Wilburton, Oklahoma to Cecil and Marie Bright. She was married to Dale Simpkins on June 22, 1951. She was a devoted wife and nurturing and loving mother, and as described by her grandchildren "the best a grandchild could have". She will be missed by all those who knew her. Pat worked for many years as a bank teller at East Texas Bank and Trust. A lifelong Christian, she was an active member of Mobberly Baptist Church and the Prime Time Bunch Sunday School class.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Dale Simpkins of Longview; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Bob Langston of Phoenix, AZ, Landa and Gary Leavy of Riverton, CT, and Cyndy and Kenneth Hugghins of Longview, TX; grandchildren, Laci Langston, Scott Honea, Kristyn Honea, Amy Wilson, and Holly Ballantine; great-grandchildren, Riley, John and Jacob Kennedy, Andy and Max Honea, and Grayson Ballantine; sister, Cecilia Sampson of Cumby, TX; and one brother, Bill Bright of San Antonio, TX.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers at Hawkins Creek Assisted Living, the Clairmont, and Kyle with Southern Care Hospice for all of their loving care and attention.
