Patricia "Pat" Ann Hinds' Obituary
Patricia (Pat) Ann Wilson, age 73, of Longview, TX passed away peacefully at home on December 23rd after a short illness.
Pat was born on January 22, 1950 in Texarkana, AR to Charles and Betty Jane (Blessing) Wilson. Pat spent the majority of her childhood on a farm in the Bradley, AR River Bottoms. Though her life took her to many far-flung destinations through the years, Bradley, the fields and places near the Red River remained “home” to her.
Pat attended school in Bradley, and for three years, before graduating in 1968, was a pivotal member of the Bradley Girl’s Senior High Basketball team, which brought home the Class B State Championship 4 years in a row (1966-1969). She remained friends with many of her “Bearette” teammates throughout her life.
Pat was a free spirit, who lived life on her own terms. She lived in Germany for three years and traveled extensively throughout Europe. An avid reader, Pat loved books of all kinds, but had a particular interest in the history of World War II. Pat worked at many jobs throughout her life, but would tell anyone her most important titles were “Momma” and “Oma.”
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, a son, Jeremy Cooper and a brother, John Wilson.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Robin Goss (Troy) of Longview, TX, Deanna Tipton of Texarkana, TX , son Aaron McClendon (Leighanne) of Alexandria, LA and daughter-in-law Tricia Cooper of San Augustine, FL. Pat is also survived by her grandchildren, Casey Boyum (Nathan) of Longview, TX, Cale Chipman of Longview, TX, Dylan Tipton of Texarkana, TX, Autumn McClendon of Hot Springs, AR, Jack Cooper of San Augustine, FL, Abby Cooper of San Augustine, FL, and great-grandchildren Serena and Solomon Boyum.
Pat is also survived by 2 brothers, Thomas “Butch” Wilson of Minden, LA and Jay Wilson (Lisa) of Doyline, LA. 2 sisters, Peggy Bland (James) of Taylor, AR and Loretta Casteen (Reno) of Shreveport, LA, Sister-in-law, Lauri Wilson, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 30th at 2 PM at Bradley Methodist Church, 103 North Pilot St in Bradley, AR with Glen Taylor officiating. Family visitation will begin one hour prior at 1 PM at the church.
As per Pat’s request, her ashes will be spread near the Red River in the Bradley Bottoms at later date.
