Pat Mayo's Obituary
Our sister in Christ, Patsy Pat Ann Mayo, 69, of Lake Cherokee, Longview, Texas, loving wife, Mom, Grandmother, "Grannie" peacefully went home to be with our Lord March 27, 2013 after a lengthy illness with congestive heart failure. Pat was born in Arlington, Texas on February 19, 1944 to Kenneth and Doris McCasland. Grew up in Levelland, TX and graduated high school from Hobbs, NM. She went on to graduate with honors from Texas Tech in 1974 and taught school in Lubbock, Texas. Returned to Hobbs, New Mexico went to work for the Police department as an evidence clerk and later investigative aid. She met and married her beloved husband Severn Mayo in Hobbs on December 15, 1978. They lived in London, England for 7 years where Pat was able to travel throughout Europe where she acquired her love for antique furniture which adorns her home today. She has been a long time resident of Lake Cherokee, she joined Trinity Baptist Church where she was very active serving as Sunday School secretary, participated in Vacation Bible School, Kids for Christ, children's church, Sunday school teacher and also helped out in the kitchen with her husband. Her hobbies were boating, bird watching, collecting antique tea pots and her family.
Pat was preceded in death by her Father, Kenneth McCasland; a sister, Peggy McCasland; and a grandson Jordan Berglan. She is survived by her husband Severn Mayo, her Mother Doris McCasland of Odessa, Texas, in-laws Morris and Ottie Mayo of Coleman, Texas, a sister Sandra Gentry and husband George of Hallsville, Texas, brother in law LD Hamilton of Hobbs, New Mexico, brother in laws JD and Michael Mayo and familes of Colemen, Texas, her daughter Debra Kirk and husband Jason of Kilgore, Texas, her son, Jimmy Berglan of Hobbs, New Mexico, step-sons Mark Mayo and wife Tesse, Duane Mayo and wife Maribeth of Brownwood, Texas, honorary sons and wives Burl Lumpkin and wife Starla of Hallsville, Texas. Aaron Mangum and wife Anne of Fort Worth, Texas. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, Paul Kirk of Longview, Texas, Christopher Kirk of Fort Collins, Colorado, Dana Kirk of Kilgore, Texas, Kendel and Bailey Berglan of Kingwood, Texas, Caleb Mayo of Austin, Texas, Natalie and Madison Mayo of Brownwood, Texas, numerous Nieces and Nephews.
The family would like to graciously thank the Trinity Baptist Church family and friends for all the prayers and support. Also for all the loving care from her doctors and nurses that attended her needs for an extended number of years.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Monday April 1, 2013 at Trinity Baptist Church, 5041 Estes Parkway, Lakeport Texas with Dr Gary Orr officiating. The family will receive friends be at Rader Funeral Home 1617 Judson Road, Longview, Texas on Sunday March 31, 2013, 6-8 PM.
