Otha Owsley's Obituary
She was born Kate "Otha" D. Coe on July 17, 1925, in Leesburg, Texas. Her parents were Fillmore and Maude Coe. She passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the age of 91. Officiated by the Rev. John Woodard, services will be at Rader Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Visitation will be at 1:00PM and the service will begin at 2:00PM, with the graveside will be at Elderville Cemetery.
Otha attended school in Leesburg, Texas and graduated Salutatorian of her class in 1942. After graduation from high school, Otha met the love of her life, Gene Owsley. They were married on January 22, 1944. In 1948, they moved to Longview and Otha went to work at Longview National Bank. Later she worked at the Longview Water Company. In 1987, Otha retired from Gregg County, where she was the Chief Deputy Clerk of the Gregg County Tax Office.
Beautiful inside and out, Otha was loved by all who knew her. The two things she loved to hear most of all were "Mama" from her only daughter, Paula, and "Nana" from her two grandsons, Rusty and Matt Allison. She enjoyed watching them grow up, attending all of their events from Summer baseball all the way through high school cross country track and football. She was so proud of the young men they became. They blessed her with three beautiful great grandchildren.
A long time member of Centre Presbyterian Church, Otha was active with the Presbyterian Women for many years.
Otha is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Paula Owsley Allison and Larry Allison, grandsons Rusty Allison (wife, Christy), Matt Allison (wife, Candice); great granddaughter Hailey Allison, and great grandsons, Gene and Will Allison; sister-in-law, Rose Coe of Beaumont, Texas; brother-in-law, Straw Owsley of Mt. Pleasant, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a very special thank you to Dr. Sangay Reddy, Dr. Srinivas Rangu, and all the staff at Compass Hospice of East Texas for the loving, compassionate care shown to our Mother over the last few months. We would also like to thank our extended family for all your love and support during this time. Memorial gifts can be made to Centre Presbyterian Church.
