Otha Moody Nelson's Obituary
Otha Moody Nelson, 91, of Longview, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at a Longview nursing home.
Ms. Nelson was born in Stroud, Oklahoma, on July 23, 1918. She was one of 16 children of Maggie Lou Rogers Moody and Byron Ragan Moody. Four sisters and seven brothers have preceded her in death. She is survived by one sister, Virginia Piepke of Pauls Valley, OK, and her husband, H.C., and three brothers, Hubert Moody of Edna, TX and wife Jessie, Jake Moody of Tulsa, OK and wife, Louise; and Paul Moody of Oklahoma City, OK, and wife, Beverly, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was very special part of the lives of two of her nieces and their families, Judy McLendon Petty and husband Don, of Longview and Jodie McLendon Holman and husband Charles of Jacksonville, TX.
Ms. Nelson loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of First Christian Church of Longview. She was a beautician for over fifty years until her retirement. Two of her greatest passions in life were enjoying her family and golfing with her very special group of friends. She also took great pride in her yard full of beautiful azaleas in the spring and worked tirelessly to take care of them for as long as she was able to do so.
Her family will be receiving friends during a time of visitation which will be held at Rader Funeral Home, Longview, from 2 to 4 PM Friday, October 30, with a private family entombment service to follow at Memory Park Mausoleum.
