Oscar C. "Tiny" Tucker, Jr.
Funeral services for Oscar C. “Tiny” Tucker, Jr., 85, of Longview will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Memory Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Reverend Dick Lindsey officiating. Entombment will follow under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Tucker was born September 1, 1929 in Big Spring, TX and passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014, at his residence in Longview. He was a resident of Longview for most of his life. He and his wife Nell, were born on the same day, in the same year and the same town, but did not meet until they both arrived in Longview many years ago. Theirs was a marriage that was meant to be.
Mr. Tucker retired from Union Pacific Freight Lines after 45 years of loyal service. He enjoyed working on cars, and built engines for dirt track race cars and also built the cars. He could make any engine run, and run fast. He loved to work in his shop, but also had time for family and friends. He liked to go frog gigging at the ponds with his buddies, and go to the watermelon patch. He was a member of Hope Community Church at North Side (formerly North Side Baptist Church).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar C. Tucker and Zana Mae Tucker Autrey; brother, Jack K. Tucker; sister-in-law, Faithalee Smoot; and brothers-in-law, Bobby J. Ballard, Glynn Beaird, and Odell Burkhalter.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Wynell Jones Tucker; daughter, Lana and Steve Snider and granddaughter Emily “Butterfly” Snider; son, Chuck and Fran Tucker; grandson, Brandon Tucker and wife Mary; great-grandchildren, McKenzie and McKayla Tucker; step-grandson, Shannon Ferguson and his daughter, Bailey and Bailey’s mom, Amanda Ferguson; sister, Mae Nell Beaird; brother-in-law, Billy C. Jones and wife Wanda; sisters-in-law, Barbara Ballard and Virginia Burkhalter; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
