Oscar Richardson was born on December 15, 1923 and passed away peacefully on February 16, 2012 in Louisville, Kentucky, where he had made his home for the last 13 years. Before his death, Mr. Richardson received Baptism, Confirmation, and Anointing by Fr. Bryan Lamberson of the Archdiocese of Louisville, Kentucky.
Oscar was preceded in death in 1997 by his wife of 45 years, May Richardson, by his parents, Oran Jacob and Ocie Pearl Richardson, and by siblings Jack, Sarah, and Ocie.
He leaves behind a daughter Betty and her husband Tom Richardson; son Harold and his wife Carmen Oney; son Patrick and his wife Catarina Richardson; siblings Jim, Jo Catherine, Tom, and Ronnie; grandsons Tommy, Steve, Oscar, and Jonathan; granddaughters Susan, Beverly, Jo Lynne, Sharon, Althea, Sarah, and Emma; 21 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He spent many of his summers camping and fishing at Lake of the Pines, loved traveling, dancing, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He served in the army during World War II. He retired from Shippers Car Lines in Longview after many years of service there. "Pop" was always jovial and loved to clown around at family gatherings; he will be sorely missed by all those who grew up being entertained by his antics.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Mary's Church in Longview.
