Orville Ray Griffin's Obituary
Orville Ray Griffin, of Longview, Texas, passed away September 4, 2011. he was born July 4, 1942 in Carterville, Texas. Orville worked for several wholesale beer distributors in the area. He was a ranch manager on a local ranch, and served in the US Army for 3 years and was stationed in Germany.
Orville attended the Buckner school in Dallas and was a well thought of athlete in the Dallas area, he was given a scholarship to play football for Baylor before joining the army. Orville loved to sing, with gospel being his favorite, one of his favorite songs was "A closer walk with thee". His caretakers at Pine Tree Lodge said he would sing in the mornings.
He was also quite the poet. Orville was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Griffin and Lou Ella Boney Griffin, 2 sisters, Joyce and Pearl, and a brother, Pat. He is survives by 3 brothers, Bobby, of Tatum James and Joe, and a sister Betty Lou, of Plano, Texas.
Orville leaves behind many friends, co-workers, and acquaintances and all of us have a 1, 000 stories. he will be missed. I would like to send a special thanks to all of his caretakers at Pine Tree Lodge nursing facility. There will be a private burial at a later date. Cremation services provided by Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
