Ora Nell Surratt's Obituary
Ora Nell Surratt passed into the arms of her savior Sunday, March 24, at home with her daughter by her side. She was born to Hulen and Lora Alice Roper on January 29, 1932, in the Farmers Academy community. She attended school at Farmers Academy and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School.
In 1949 she married Carl Joseph Ammar. He served as pastor of Northside Baptist Church until his passing in 1966. In 1967, she married Clarence Surratt and they were marred until his death in 2004.
Mrs. Surratt served as church secretary at Calvary Baptist Church, Longview for 20 years. She loved her Lord and telling people about Him. Above all, she loved her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and her brother, Carlton Richard Roper. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Anna Carol Whitmore, of the home; two granddaughters, Donika McFaul and Erin Weber of California; two great grandchildren, Ryan and Madison of California; her niece and husband, DeLoris and David Page; and nephew, Jim Roper of Oklahoma.
Graveside services for Mrs. Surratt will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the Farmers Academy Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Richard Jones officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday at Rader Funeral Home.
