Opal Faye Doerge's Obituary
Graveside services for Opal Faye Ballenger Doerge, 97, will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 at the Strong Cemetery with Rev. David Luckert officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Doerge died Friday, November 4, 2011 in a local nursing home.
She was born March 2, 1914 in Churchill to Oscar and Sarah Elizabeth Armstrong Ballenger and she grew up in the Churchill community. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Couples Sunday School Class, and the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Doerge was active in various civic organizations throughout the community serving as a Grey Lady at the Henderson Memorial Hospital and was involved with the PTO.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Cecil Arthur Doerge; brothers, Paul, Dennis, and Travis Ballenger.
Surviving is a son; William Doerge and wife Kay Ann of Henderson; daughter, Jan Doerge Hartung and husband Steve of Deer Park; grandchildren, Justin and Carrie Doerge of Henderson, Shannon and Vicki Doerge of Henderson, Jeff and Meredith Hartung of Fort Worth, and Steve and Sarah Cardin of Houston; great-grandchildren, Carli Doerge, Morgan Doerge, Katie Doerge, Deacon Doerge, Hailey Hartung, Houston Hartung, Ashley Cardin and Maddie Cardin.
Pallbearers will be Justin Doerge, Shannon Doerge, Jeff Hartung, Steve Cardin, Richard Ballenger, Watson Doerge, and Matt Doerge. Honorary pallbearers will be Buck Thrasher, Bob Wylie, Don Turlington, Michael Strong, and Dan Ballenger.
