Onita Carroll's Obituary
Onita Carroll, 87, of Longview, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at a local nursing facility. She was born April 29, 1916 in Emhouse, Texas to Abraham and Katherine Wooten. Mrs. Carroll was a homemaker, retired hairdresser and had been a Longview resident since 1958.
At the time of her death she was a resident of Buckner Westminister
Place where she served as an ambassador with her many cherished
and loving friends.
Mrs. Carroll was an active member of Mobberly Baptist Church for 45 years where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and worked with the Mobberly Church Child Development Center. She was also a previous member of the Good Shepherd Ladies Auxiliary.
Onita was preceded in death by her husband, William; son, Wayne Carroll; daughter, Peggy Todd, granddaughter, Patricia Todd; brothers, Henry Wooten, William Wooten; sisters, Aline Roach and Winnie Burke.
She is survived by her children, Bettye Dow of Lake Cherokee, Shirlee McDade of Shreveport, LA and Linda Leader of Longview; also surviving are sisters, Mildred Barton of Groveton, TX, 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to either, Greater Hospice of Texas, Inc., Mobberly Baptist Church, or Buckner Baptist Benevolences.
Family visitation will be Friday, December 12, 2003 from 6-8 PM.
Services will be Saturday, December 13, 2003 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., with Reverend Scott Schulik officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
