Oma Mae Brashear
Funeral services for Oma Mae Brashear, 91, of Longview will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, Longview, with Dr. Jonathan Bynum officiating. Burial will be Lakeview Memorial Gardens. She passed away Monday, December 20, in a Gilmer nursing home.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brashear was born May 18, 1919 in Okalla, TX to Jesse and Julia Bell. She had been a resident of Longview since 1969 and was retired from the Longview Independent School District where she was a teacher at Bramlette Elementary School. She was a 1939 graduate of Southwest State Teacher College in San Marcos, TX. Mrs. Brashear was a member of the Greggton United Methodist Church and was a member of the Methodist Women. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ for various small groups at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Reagan Brashear; brothers, Morris and Marvin Bell; and her sister, Katherine Durham.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, James Reagan and Jan Brashear of Flower Mound, TX; daughter, Carol Stewart of White Oak; grandchildren, Julia Lowrey, David Lowrey, Clint Brashear and wife Susan, Jarret Brashear and wife Meghan and Sommer Everett and husband Matt; and a great granddaughter, Eden Brashear.
