Charlene was born August 15, 1929 in Beckville, TX to Charles Jackson Williams and Ola Kuykendall Williams. At the age of 19 she married Joe I "Pepper" Martin, living out their married life of 57 years in Tatum, TX. Charlene worked and retired from the Tatum school district. She was a truly gifted lady. She began playing the piano when only a young girl, playing for church, family and friends. Her children remembered she would go the piano and play on an extremely stressful day and find peace. Later years she began to take photos of Caddo Lake as she and Joe had a place on the lake, where they spent most weekends for more than 25 years. While spending weekends at Caddo, Charlene and friends began to take painting classes from H.T Parrish. Later Charlene would accept commissions for paintings of original family home places to be passed down through generations. Her work will continue to be appreciated and enjoyed as long as it is displayed.
Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe I Martin, and son-in-law Richard Clements.
Those left to cherish her and Joe's memory are, son Charles Martin and wife Trish and daughter Marie Clements. She was Mimi to 4 grandchildren, Teresa Reimer and husband Brad, Leslie Stelpflug and husband Paul, Marty Clements and wife Mary, Tonya Nelms and husband Keith. Seven Great Grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
