Novella Turner Fletcher was born September 11, 1923 to Hughie Irving Turner and Clementine Deavers Turner in New York, Texas. Novella?s family moved to Dallas when she was a young teen. There she attended Forest Avenue High School and met her beloved Yankee, Donald Rodman Fletcher, when they were both 13 years old. They were married September 16, 1940, when she was barely 17. Their marriage lasted nearly 71 years until Don passed away July 27, 2011.
Novella was a loving daughter to her parents, a faithful and loving wife to her husband and a wonderful mother to her children. Novella was a very beautiful lady even being approached by a Hollywood film agent when she worked in downtown Dallas in the 40?s. Along with being beautiful on the outside, she was a beautiful, caring and kind Christian on the inside. She was always more concerned about family and friends than herself. Her devotion to Don was unfailing, taking such good care of him all their married life but especially after he broke his hip in 2009. She did this at a time when her own health began to fail. Novella had a stroke the day after Don?s funeral and became bedridden until her death. She was very content just enjoying being with family and friends, doing crossword puzzles and watching old movies. She always said ?thank you? for anything someone did for her and she loved listening to the Bible every morning on CD?s. Novella loved her parents, her brothers, her husband and her children; she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her pastor, Bro. Richard Jones and his wife, Barbara, her church, Calvary Baptist and her many wonderful friends. She loved others as well. But most important, she loved God and knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and He loved her as well. I John 3:16??By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.?
Novella is survived by her son, Rev. Bobby Fletcher and wife Janice of Sherman; daughter, Donna Loyd and husband Don of Sand Hill; her brothers, Jack ?Brub? Turner of Dallas and George ?Corky? Turner and wife, Judy of Houston, 8 grandchildren, Chris Loyd and wife Kindra of Sand Hill, Beth Loyd Musselman and husband, Gary of Adamstown, Pennsylvania, Carrie Loyd Rauch and husband, Mark of Gladewater, Amy Fletcher Thornton and husband, Stacy of Sherman, William Lee Loyd of Sand Hill, Rev. Mark Fletcher and wife, Amy of Van Alstyne, Kristen Fletcher Jackson and husband Bryan of Van Alstyne and Lindsey Nicole Fletcher of Sherman and 31 great grandchildren. Novella was preceded in death by her husband Don; her parents, Hughie and Clemmie Turner; and her dear sister-in-law Imogene Turner; and brother-in-law, Gordon Fletcher.
