Norma Webb Johnston's Obituary
Norma Lea Webb Johnston "Ms. Norma", born August 19, 1923 in Alma, Arkansas. Entered into Glory December 27, 2011, in Coppell, Texas.
Ms. Norma attended Ouachita Baptist College now University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where she met and married John Johnston Bro. John" on September 2, 1943. After graduation from Ouachita in 1944, the Johnstons moved to Ft. Worth where Bro. John attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Ms. Norma taught school.
Ms. Norma taught in public and private schools for nearly 40 years, and was loved and respected by her students and other faculty. She retired in the mid 1980s due to health reasons. Ms. Norma dedicated her life to serving her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Throughout Bro. John's pastorate and even in her later years, she was a Sunday School teacher, WMU Director, GA Director, sang in the church choir, and participated in a myriad of activities within the church.
The Johnstons moved to Longview in 1972 and were both actively involved in many ministries at Mobberly Baptist Church until 2006 when they moved to Grapevine due to declining health.
Ms. Norma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, John William Johnston, Sr. and daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Johnston. Those left to cherish her memory are three children, John William "Bill" Johnston, Jr., Norman Douglas Johnston, and Judith Ann Johnston Garrison.
Cryptside services will be 2 PM Friday, December 30, at Lakeview Memorial Park Mausoleum, Longview, with Reverend Greg Zackary officiating.
