Norma Jean McCulloch's Obituary
Norma Jean McCulloch, 82, passed away on December 6, 2012 at Good Shepherd Medical Center. Norma was born in Beaumont, Texas, 1930, the fifth child of Joseph R. and Natalie Mackey. She and her brothers and sisters grew up on Green Street in Longview and often regaled friends and family with tales their childhood. She is a graduate of Longview High School and attended Kilgore College, where she was a member of the marching band. Norma and William Burley McCulloch, her husband of 62 years, were married in El Dorado, Arkansas on February 17, 1951, but moved back to East Texas to raise their children. They moved to Shreveport, Louisiana for Burley's work, but eventually returned to Longview, Texas to be near family. In her later years she enjoyed volunteering with her husband and sisters at Good Shepherd. She and her husband particularly enjoyed their Sunday School class at Winterfield Methodist Church. Norma was preceded in death by her parents and husband, and her brothers, Jack D. Mackey and Joe R. Mickey Mackey, and her sister, Daronda Lindsay. She is survived by her daughter Jeanne Wesley and her husband Al Durante; son Mark McCulloch; her loving sister Shirley Mackey; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
There will be a graveside service at Alpine Cemetery, Longview on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Winterfield Methodist Church.
