Norma J. Teague's Obituary
Services for Norma J. Teague, 68, of Henderson will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 31, 2007, at the First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Clyde Tucker, Dr. Harold J. Springfield, and her son Rev. Mike Teague officiating. Burial will be in Rusk County Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Mrs. Teague was born December 13, 1938 in Nashville, Tennessee and died March 26, 2007 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by father Arthur Travis, step-father and mother Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hudgens; step-brother Clarence Hudgens, infant son Daryl Ray Teague and infant grandson Joshua Travis Teague.
Surviving is her husband of 48 years, Harold Teague; son Mike Teague and wife Amy ;grandchildren , Slaton Travis Teague and Maci Rae Teague; brother ?in-law and wife Mr. and Mrs. Jim Teague; step-sister-in-law, Mattie Hudgens and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Teague had a life long career of Social work while working with children. She was first employed at Free Will Baptist Children?s Home in Greenville, Tennessee, and then was the administrative director for Summit Oaks Achievement Center in Laneville, Texas. Later, she retired from the State of Texas Child Protective Services after 21 years service. She touched and protected the lives of a vast multitude of children throughout her life.
She was listed in Whose Who of American Women. She served as a pastor?s wife for 48 years and was the president of local Lady?s Auxiliaries of her churches. She served as an elected officer in the Women?s National Auxiliary Convention for the Free Will Baptist Denomination. She was a gifted as a pianist and an organist and continued to serve her church until her passing.
Mrs. Teague graduated Cum Laude from the Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee, and also earned a Bachelor?s of Arts degree in Social Work from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Visitation will be Friday, March 30, 2007, at the First Free Will Baptist Church from 6 to 8 PM.
