Norma Farrington Hunt's Obituary
Norma Farrington Hunt peacefully passed away on the evening of Thursday, May 11, 2017, surrounded by her loving children. She was born to James Tucker and Frances Plummer in 1929 and raised in Galveston, TX where she later met and married Evan Stanley Farrington, Jr., M.D. In 1956, they moved to Longview where Dr. Farrington practiced dermatology until his death in 1984. Norma married Warren H. Hunt, III, M.D. in 1988 and was married to him for 28 years until Dr. Hunt’s passing on May 10, 2017.
Norma was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of numerous organizations in Longview including the Green Thumb Garden Club for which she proudly served many roles over the years. She helped found the Altar Guild at St. Anthony Catholic Church and was a longtime parishioner there and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughter Lucy Russell and Lucy’s children Sidney Wagner and husband Ryan, and Stan Russell; her son Evan Farrington and wife Melaine; her daughter Helen (Betsy) Pistone and husband Dr. Joseph Pistone and their children Sam, Elizabeth and Dominic; and stepchildren Warren, Carol, Jody and Anne Hunt; sister Joyce Hugman and brother Douglas Plummer and wife Janie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and by brothers John and Jim Plummer.
Norma’s faith, courage and steadfast German spirit gave her strength in her final days. Norma dedicated her life to caring for her family and others, and she will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Longview starting at 10:30am with the Recitation of the Rosary prior to the mass starting at 10am. Interment will follow the mass at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview.
