Norma Jean Fowler's Obituary
Norma Jean Fowler 92 of Longview, TX, finished her earthly travels on December 16, 2020 and returned to her heavenly home. She fought a good fight, finished her race, and kept the faith. Jean was born on August 21, 1928 to Letha Harris and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1946. She then attended business school in Tyler, Texas.
Jean retired from McIntosh Drugstore after many years of service. She and her husband Max served as deacons at Cornerstone Church in Longview, they were prayer counselors at Church on the Rock, and she has been over the intercessory prayer ministry for Daughters of Zion Ministries for the last 20 years. Jean was known to many as Mama Jean, because she was a spiritual mother and mentor to many young women. She was constantly available to help anyone in need and always imparted great Godley wisdom to those that she mentored. We were blessed to receive her love, her famous hugs, and her prayers. To know Mama Jean was to know the true love of God. Our lives have been greatly enriched to have known her and received from her wealth of Godley wisdom.
Jean is survived by her devoted daughter, Vicky Cook of Longview, Texas, granddaughter Jana Cook of Austin, Texas, and multiple cousins. Also included in her family were many spiritual daughters, including the Daughters of Zion Ministries which she loved being a vital part. She was preceded in death by her mother, Letha, husband Max Fowler and many aunts and uncles. There will be a memorial service at a later date to honor the life of Mama Jean.
