Noel Vernon Cook
Noel Vernon Cook, 93, passed away October 23, 2005 at home in Longview, Texas. He was born in Sherman, Texas on June 18, 1912 to Willie Pierce Cook and Pearl Estes Cook. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1930 and did further study at Austin College. He married Dorothy Lucille Click November 15, 1935. He developed a love for aviation early on and spent most of his life working in this field for the FAA. In December 1942 he became an aircraft communicator at Blackland Army Airfield in Waco, Texas. In 1945 the family moved to Dallas, Texas where he began his career at Dallas Love Field. He also worked some shifts at the Regional Office in Ft. Worth. In 1969 he was made Deputy Chief at Love Field and later that year was selected to be the Chief at Tulsa, Oklahoma but declined because of aged parents. He retired form Love Field in 1973. After retiring he began organizing all the articles, pictures and information he had collected through the years on Love Field and the aviation industry in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. He presented all these files to the Dallas Public Library in 2004. Noel and Dorothy also enjoyed travel and genealogy in their retirement years. They were residents of Dallas for almost 60 years. He was an active member of the National Associating of Retired Federal Employees until they moved to Longview in 2004 to be near his son and family. He was a member of the Town North Bible Church and attended Pine Crest Bible Church after moving to Longview. He was dearly loved by his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years Dorothy Cook of Longview; one daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor and Jerry Dunn of Schaumburg, Ill.; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Betty Cook of Longview, TX.; five grandchildren and spouses, Chris and Barbara Dunn of Little Rock, Ark.; Laurie and Mike Reinhardt of Marina Del Rey, Calif.; Greg Dunn of Schaumburg, Ill.; Brad and Tricia Cook of Longview, TX.; Brian and Shannon Cook of Tyler, TX.; nine great grandchildren, Forrest Dunn, Shea Dunn, Sydney Dunn of Little Rock, Ark.; Ryleigh Dunn of Allen, TX.; Jordan Cook, Gray Cook of Longview, TX.; Wyatt Cook, Samuel Cook, and Phillip Cook of Tyler; two sisters, Dorothy Moore of Pearland, TX.; and Beulah Faye Patton of Ft. Worth, TX.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A viewing for Noel will be held Friday October 28, 2005 from 5pm until 7pm at Rader Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Ten O?clock am Saturday October 29, 2005 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home 1617 Judson Road with Reverend David Amstutz former pastor of Town North Bible Church officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 pm Saturday at Sparkman/Hillcrest Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
