Nina "Jo" Findley's Obituary
Nina “Jo” Findley, a beloved member of the Longview, Texas community, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2023, at the age of 88. She was born on September 20, 1935, in Marshall, Texas, to George C. and Ethel Walker.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, husband M. K. Findley, sisters, and brothers: Edna Findley, Margie Cosenza, George “Cliff” Walker, Jr, Charles Walker, William “Bill” Walker; and nephews Ronald Santigati, Jerry Findley, Terry Findley and niece Jeanie Hanlon.
She is survived by her sister Hazel Harris, step-grandsons Michael Henry and David Henry, nieces, and nephews: Gayle Henry (Tony Broome), Cheryl Woods (Larry), Jackie Miceli (Lewis), Julie Wyatt (Michael), Rhett Harris, Don Harris (Brenda), Anne Bielby (Mike), Tina Cooper (Tom), Linda Helms (Steve), Tony Walker, Cliffton Walker (Bethany), John Walker, and many great nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jo graduated from Marshall High School and later became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), dedicating herself to caring for others. She married Malthus Kendall Findley in 1984 and moved to Tatum, Texas, before settling in Colonial Village in Longview, TX, in 2018.
Throughout her life, Jo was passionate about volunteering. She worked in elections in Rusk County and devoted significant time to Christus Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, where she comforted families in the Surgery Waiting room. Jo’s generosity extended beyond her volunteer work; she supported numerous people and organizations, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
Despite health challenges, Jo continued to spread kindness and joy, making friends and renewing connections with her indomitable spirit. Fiercely independent, she touched the lives of everyone she met, ensuring they felt special and loved.
In her final days, Jo shared her faith and readiness to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, leaving her loved ones with a profound sense of peace. The family expresses gratitude to the staff and residents of Colonial Village, Prime Care Hospice Staff, and HomeAide Caregivers, LTD for their love, care, and support.
Jo’s legacy of love, generosity, and faith will be cherished by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Services will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Noon. Burial will follow at Tatum Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Chapel from 11 am to noon prior to the service.
