Nettie Jean Fenton of Longview, TX passed away on August 9, 2009 after a long battle with cancer.
Services for Nettie Jean Fenton of Longview will be held at 11:00am on August 15, 2009 at Summerfield United Methodist Church, 7078 Tryon Road, Longview, TX with Reverend Christopher D. Charles officiating. Mrs. Fenton died on Sunday, August 9, 2009 in Fairfax, VA. Lunch will be served at the church after the 11:00am service. Graveside Internment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Friday August 14, 2009 at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Road, Longview, TX 75601.
Mrs. Fenton was born on August 2, 1922 in Maud, TX to Ernest and Nettie Caudle. She has been a member of Summerfield Church since 1954, where she served in various capacities, including financial secretary and treasurer. She also worked as secretary/ bookkeeper at Judson Independent School District for ten years and Longview Independent School District for seven years as secretary/bookkeeper.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Marshall M. McDermott; her second husband James N. Fenton; her son Timothy W. McDermott; her parents Earnest and Nettie Caudle; brother A.J. Caudle; brother Kenneth C. Caudle; brother William P. Caudle; brother Hugh C. Caudle; brother Luther D. Caudle; and sister Ella Faye Webb. Survivors include son Gary Don McDermott of Oakton, VA.; stepson James Fenton, Jr. of Lincoln, California; stepdaughter Carolyn Foss of Spokane, WA.; sister Lavern C. Cochran of Texarkana, TX; sister Linda N. Stone of Maud, TX; brother Frank C. Caudle of Maud, TX; brother Len D. Caudle of Maud, TX; granddaughter Angela Foster of Fairfax, VA ; grandson George Marshall McDermott of Evergreen, CO; granddaughter Leticia McDermott Little of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter Amanda McDermott Ibarra of Tyler, TX; grandson Adam McDermott of Big Sandy, TX; granddaughter Corlyn McDermott of Oakton, VA; grandson Mitchell McDermott of Oakton, VA; step-granddaughter Judy Ann Foss of Spokane, WA; and her many nieces, nephews and treasured friends.
