Nellie Susan Green's Obituary
Nellie Susan Sue Green, 78, of Henderson, was born January 17, 1930 to John A. and Nellie Wadkins Dougherty in Carruthersville, MO.. and passed away on November 15, 2008, in Tyler, Texas after a lengthy illness.
Susan attended Hasbin High School in Williamsville.MO. where she was a member of the pep squad, glee club, and press staff. She graduated in 1948.
After graduation she moved to Houston, TX. where she met and married her husband William B. Green on May 30, 1949. She began a career in Houston as City Secretary where she worked for 24 years , retiring in 1979.
She and William began their family in 1967 with the birth of their first son Gary Green and their second son, Terry Green was born in 1970.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother Charles Dougherty.
Surviving are sons, Gary Green of Houston and Terry Green and wife Christie of Henderson; brother, John Dougherty of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Brady Green and Morgan Green of Houston, Alexa Green of Lindale, Josh Green and Halie Green of Henderson;half-brother, Edward Clark of Glascow, KY.; half-sisters, Alice Walters of Gilmer, Patsy Myers of Union Grove, Becky Ollison of Waco, and Joyce Kelley of Paducah, KY.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at the Rader Funeral Chapel in Henderson with Rev. Leymoin Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cleve Jimerson, Lee Utzman, Charlie Bridges, Eric McGee, Kris Copeland, Steve Propes, Joe Pool, and Phillip Jimerson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Campbell, Noah Johnson, and Brad Grammer.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 8 PM
