Nellie Pearl Melvin's Obituary
Services for Nellie Pearl Melvin, 92, of Longview will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Memory Park Cemetery. Mrs. Melvin passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011 in Longview.
Mrs. Melvin was born to Luther and Evie Watley on November 20, 1918. She graduated nursing school in 1943 in Louisiana and served as a lifelong caregiver to her family, friends and neighbors. She was a nurse in Longview since 1951 and was a past member of the Piney Woods Quilters Association. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Melvin; son Lonnie Watley; brother Fred Watley.
She is survived by her son Jack Melvin of Longview; nephew Jimmy and his wife Mary Watley of Calhoun, LA; nieces and their husbands Bobbie Brewster of McKinney, TX, Linda and Jimmy Odom of Ruston, LA, Patsy and William Truelove of Chatham, LA; cousin Nita and husband Henry Taylor of Shreveport, LA; great nieces and nephews.
